MAR 16 -  Another award!!!  This time it's Best Northwest Film - Runner Up... from the Spokane International Film Festival.  Unfortunately, this film festival is not officially listed on IMDB, so I wasn't able to add the award there.  But you heard it here first!

MAR 2 - Two festivals emailed me to invite the film!  One of them, The Indie Spirit Film Festival takes place at one of Tesla's old stomping grounds... Colorado Springs.  The other fest is Newport Beach Film Festival and will be a premier showing in the L.A. area.

FEB 15 - Spokane Film Festival screening held in one of the theatres of a downtown multiplex.  It was the short in front of a Russian film called "The Hollow", which I found murky and indecipherable.  However, My Inventions went over well and the Q&A was enthusiastic and curious.

FEB 3 - A humbling screening to a primarily disinterested audience of 20 (most were in attendence to see one of the other films by their local buddy) at a small downtown Victoria nightclub called Plan B.  Nevertheless the film was a hit with organizers, enough to award it...
BEST SHORT FILM!!!!

JAN 31 - An afternoon screening at the annual Gabriola Island Film Festival.  Yes, it's a small town, little island islolated-community sort of thing, but charming nonetheless.  About 50 or so attendees on a nice, sunny Saturday afternoon when they could've been out enjoying the rare sunshine.  I overheard several people arriving, saying they were here to see the "Tesla film"... clearly there's a subculture of alternative energy afficianados in this offbeat island community.   The Q & A was lively and fun, as the audience generally responded quite favourably and loved to discuss our Mr. T.  This film was championed for the festival by its organizer,  Tsiporagh Grignon and I was delighted to meet her and her husband Paul, who created the hit Youtube video "Money As Debt"... very interesting!  Be sure to visit his website:  www.moneyasdebt.net/

DEC 1 - Another festival invitation!  This time it's the Victoria International Film Festival, Jan 30 - Feb 8

And unfortunately, it's not in the Whistler Film Festival.  Many people have asked me about this and I regret to say... my bad.  I was too late with the entry.

NOV '08
- The film has been invited to the Spokane International Film Festival, February 5 - 15, 2009.
also --  an invitation to Mountainfilm in Telluride, May 22 - 25.  The film has nothing to do with mountains, but I think because it's a film that promotes eco-friendly ideas.

OCT 3,4 - The screening. If you were there, you saw a great program of shorts. If not, you missed out on perhaps the greatest entertainment experience in the history of the civilized world. Seriously though, the program played to a mostly packed house, both Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. The Q & A wasn't too embarrassing! LOL! The festival going experience was great -- networked a lot, handed out cards and got some back.

Included in all this, I was interviewed by Patrick Maliha and Val Cole on Vancouver's TALK 1410 AM, and was kindly offered a promo interview and promo page over at Movieset.com, Colleen Nystedt and Quin Bender's new movie website. Check it out, it's great.

AUG 18 - Official Selection -- Vancouver International Film Festival! Wow, a hometown festival wants to screen the movie! That's gotta be wicked cool!

AUG 13 - My Inventions has been selected for another fest -- Planet in Focus Film Festival, held in Toronto on October 22 - 26. This festival has an "environmental" theme, and since this film brings up energy issues this may be why they liked it. Onward and upward...

AUG 10 - Wow, unexpected! The film wins a Best Editing award! And that's not just for the short film category, but includes the features and documentaries too! Way to go, Tony Dean! All the countless hours in Tony's edit suite, imposing upon his free time and his family time... finally pays off !

AUG 8 - Screening took place at the beautifully restored Columbus Theatre (in years past it had degenerated into a porn theatre). My Inventions was sandwiched between an animated short called "Botnick!" and a wonderful and funny Italian live action short called "Barefoot on the Stage", before the feature documentary "Garrison Keillor: The Man on the Radio with the Red Shoes" The audience was about 100 - 150 people, most of which were HUGE Garrison Keillor fans... and mostly of his generation, ie - somebody's grandparents. They loved that movie so much. But our movie... was appreciated too, I'm sure. Every short gets a roomful of applause, but if I was to guage the reaction after the credits rolled, I think there was more whispering and buzzing than usual, so I took it as a good sign. Afterward, the requisite Q& A -- Everyone wanted to know what it was like to work with Garrison Keillor, how much he contributed to the script, etc, etc. However, someone did ask how I got the shot of the airships flying over the city and I had to explain that it was cgi, umm computer animation! I got a laugh when I explained I found the animator in Utica, NY through "Craigslist"

Myself and 2 other filmmakers were interviewed by SPOILER ALERT RADIO in Providence R.I.
If you click here, you'll be taken to the interview link. I'm the 2nd person to be interviewed in this recording, following a talented young German filmmaker named Felize. I actually sound somewhat erudite and articulate, for some reason. Ah, yes, there were free drinks!

MAY 24 - Official word... The film has been pre-selected for the Rhode Island International Film Festival!

MAY 7 - Kick Start Screening. A big thank you to Sorrell and KickStart for making it all happen! Thank you too to DCG and BC Film. I love ya all!
This time the film was projected in high definition as they'd rented an HD Cam deck. It looked pretty good, if a little dim. The projector brightness was cranked to the max.

APRIL - Nominated for 3 LEO Awards! Congrats to Sandy Buck, our multi-talented costume designer, to Tygh Runyan, whereever you are, and our awesome sound team, Ruth, Colin, Greg, Angelo, Dorian, Gord, Chris and Cameron.

FEBRUARY 17 - 1st screening ever - for all cast and crew. At the Van City theatre on Seymour. It looked pretty good even though it was projected in standard definition on Digi-Beta. The sound was awesome. It was the product of excellent work contributed by everybody involved and I must thank them all from the bottom of my heart.
